Since he took office as president of the Cameroonian federation, Samuel Eto’o has gotten himself into a lot of trouble.
And after his battles with the political powers of his country, the former FC Barcelona and Inter striker has just been handed a very heavy sanction by FIFA for behavior deemed inappropriate.
“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, with a six-month ban from attending matches of Cameroonian representative teams, for violating Articles 13 (Offensive behavior and violation of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Incorrect behavior of players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The sanction imposed relates to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Round of 16 match between Brazil and Cameroon in Bogotá, Colombia, on 11 September 2024. The ban imposed on Mr Eto’o will prevent him from attending men’s and women’s football matches involving FECAFOOT representative teams, in any category or age group. Mr Eto’o was notified of the decision today, the date on which the ban came into force,” FIFA wrote on its website.
