Coach Paulo Fonseca of AC Milan stated that his team wants to prove they can play as well as put up a strong defensive effort against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday in the Champions League.
After Christian Pulisic gave Milan the lead in the third minute, the visitors rallied to lose 3-1 at home to Liverpool to begin their European season.
“I don’t think about changing (much), we need to have continuity.
“We know it’s a different game, (but) I think it will be a similar game to the one against Liverpool,” Fonseca told a press conference on Monday.

“I told the players that to beat a strong team like Leverkusen we need to make a defensively perfect team.”
The German champions led by Xabi Alonso defeated Feyenoord 4-0 on the road to start their European season.
However, after giving up 24 goals in 34 games during the 2023–24 domestic season, they have given up 10 goals in their first five Bundesliga games.
Champions of Europe seven times With 14 goals in six games this season, Milan—the only Italian team to win the Champions League more than once—are the leading scorers in Serie A.
“It is true that we have done well in the league in the last few games, but I have to say that Serie A is very different from these games we have in the Champions League,” Fonseca said.

Alvaro Morata, a Spanish striker who started the game with a little knock but scored the game’s first goal in Milan’s 3-0 victory over Lecce, may be out of the lineup.
“He (Morata) made a big effort to play the last match,” Fonseca added.
“He is doubtful and we will manage him. Let’s see how he is tomorrow. We don’t want to take any risks.”
