FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary Américo Espallargas said in an official communication to the club that FIFA has officially lifted the transfer ban on Sofapaka FC following the club’s successful payments to their former Burundian players – David Nshimirimana, Fiston Razak, and Moussa Omar – over breach of contract issues.
“We take note from the mentioned correspondence that the players and the club entered into a settlement agreement. By signing this settlement agreement, we understand that the parties settled their dispute related to the decision of the abovementioned case.
“As a consequence, we inform you that the present proceedings against Sofapaka are hereby closed and its ban to register any new players has been lifted. As such, the Football Kenya Federation (in copy) is hereby requested to immediately lift the ban imposed on the Respondent at the national level,“ read the letter.
Sofapaka had been banned from both local and international transfers due to breach of contracts with the three former players.
“Our FIFA ban has finally been lifted. All the sleepless nights of administrative work, finding solutions, and countless emails have finally paid off. God will always be the greatest,” a statement from the club read.
