Sergio Ramos has reached an agreement with Egyptian club Zamalek

Free since leaving Sevilla FC, Sergio Ramos has still not found a new place to land. Despite his 38 years, the former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain player has always been clear that he was looking for a new challenge.

Quickly, his name was linked to many clubs. There was San Diego FC, a new Major League Soccer franchise that will start the competition in 2025. Turkey (Galatasaray), Saudi Arabia (Al-Orobah) and Brazil (Botafogo, Corinthians, Flamengo, Vasco da Gama) were mentioned as potential landing points.

But the defender saw a totally unexpected door open last week with concrete interest from the Egyptian club Zamalek. And according to the Egyptian press, the negotiations have progressed very well.

Asked about the reality of Zamalek’s negotiations to include Spanish defender Sergio Ramos in the squad, the president of the Egyptian club, Hisham Nasr, replied: “Yes, there are negotiations with Ramos, it would be a sports investment agreement and it will greatly improve the reputation of the club. We are working to arrange the financial value, and the player will join us once the salary is finally agreed.”

An agreement is therefore about to be reached between all parties. The Zamalek club, based in Cairo, is one of the most successful clubs on the African continent with 79 trophies. The team coached by José Manuel Gomes won the African Super Cup a few days ago by beating the Egyptian club Al-Ahly.
