Hervé Renard clearly does not see himself returning to France. The former coach of the French women’s team spoke for the first time in the columns of L’Équipe, since the elimination of the Blues at the Olympic Games and his resignation.
Questioned on the question of a potential return to France, the Savoyard humorously dodged the issue: “sorry, my phone is no longer working. I went through a tunnel (laughs)”.
The former LOSC coach has been labeled as a national team coach for several years. A double winner of the CAN (Zambia 2012, Ivory Coast 2015), returning to the head of a club is really not an option that Renard is considering at the moment. “It’s not my priority. But I’m not Guardiola, Zidane, Ancelotti or Klopp. I don’t do what I want, when I want. In my mind, I’m not going to take a sabbatical year. In January, if I don’t have a national team, what am I going to do? That’s why I can’t be categorical,” said the 56-year-old technician, who is not closing any doors. One thing is certain, Hervé Renard wants to find a bench, the question remains which one.
