Back on the bench after several years of absence, Claude Makelele had a good start with the Greek club of Asteras Tripolis and is still undefeated with 2 draws and a victory on Sunday against Athens Kallithea (1-3), the club of Mathieu Valbuena. Currently 7th in the championship, the Greek team will already have to find a new coach.
The former French international, who had signed until the end of the season with Asteras Tripolis, decided to stop the adventure less than a month after his arrival.
According to reports, the choices imposed by the club’s internal management regarding the game system and the players called up have made it impossible for him to do his job. If he managed to impose his choices on the last match (in particular by bringing in the young recruit Darnell Eric Bile, already an assist), he knows that he will not be able to do so afterwards.
Therefore, while he is grateful to the Greek club that gave him his chance, Claude Makelele will return to France in the coming days in search of a new challenge.
