Sudan’s Assistant Coach, Ignatius Osei Fosu, has voiced concerns ahead of their crucial encounter against Ghana on Thursday, citing poor training conditions as a major challenge for his side’s preparations.
In a pre-match interview, Coach Fosu shared that while the overall preparations have been steady, the team has faced difficulties with the quality of the training pitch. “Preparations have not been bad, but our only problem has been with the training pitch,” he stated.
The team was assigned St. Thomas Aquinas School’s pitch for training sessions, but Fosu was unimpressed with the condition of the facility. “It’s not been the best, but we’ll take it like that. We’ve not trained at the Accra Stadium yet, but what we were given at St Aquinas is not good,” he explained.
With the game scheduled at the Accra Sports Stadium, Fosu expressed concerns about the playing surface there as well. “If the pitch at Accra is anything close to what was given us at St Aquinas, then we are going to see some awful football,” he warned.
Despite these challenges, Sudan’s coaching team remains focused on giving their best performance in the upcoming match. With both teams eager for a win, Thursday’s clash promises to be a high-stakes affair, though Fosu’s concerns about the pitch conditions could be a factor in determining the quality of football on display.
