Kenya Ambitious Presidential aspirant Barry Otieno Convenes Meeting with FKF PL clubs

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Presidential aspirant Barry Otieno has convened a meeting with FKF Premier League clubs aimed at vision sharing ahead of the national elections set for December 7, 2024.

In a signed statement obtained by Africa Top Sports dated October 17 and signed by Otieno, who is the immediate FKF Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the purpose of the meeting will be to share his vision for the future of Kenyan football, with a particular focus on club empowerment and the professionalization of the FKF Premier League.

The statement dubbed “Invitation to FKF Premier League Clubs: Vision Sharing and Consultation Meeting” and copied to all the Chairmen and CEO of the 18 Premier League clubs, read in part: “As you may be aware I recently declared my intention to run for the office of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President. As a passionate advocate for the growth and development of Kenyan football, I believe it is crucial to engage directly with you, on matters affecting your clubs and the future of our sport.

“In light of this, I am pleased to invite you to a special meeting scheduled for: Date: Monday, October 21, 2024, Time: 10:00 AM, Venue: Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club.”

The statement continued: “The purpose of this meeting is twofold: To share my vision for the future of Kenyan football, with a particular focus on club empowerment and the professionalization of the FKF Premier League, and to gather your invaluable feedback on how we can best involve clubs in the management and professionalization of the said league.”

The statement concluded: “Your attendance at this meeting is of utmost importance. As key stakeholders in Kenyan football, your insights, experiences, and suggestions are crucial in shaping the policies and strategies that will drive our sport forward.

“Moreover, your feedback will play a pivotal role in refining our approach to league management and ensuring the voices of clubs are heard and respected in all decision-making processes. On Thursday, Otieno pledged to strengthen the federation’s governance structure by empowering FKF branches and committees to create a more robust, transparent, and effective system.

“Our vision for FKF is one of shared responsibility and collective growth,” said Barry (Otieno) during a meeting with a section of FKF branch officials in Nairobi. “By empowering our branches and revitalizing our committees, we can create a governance structure that truly serves Kenyan football at all levels.”
