COSAFA COSAFA Women’s Championship: Zambia maul Comoros 7-0.

The Copper Queens of Zambia surged to a dominant 7-0 victory over Comoros, advancing to the semi-finals of the COSAFA Women’s Championship in commanding fashion.

The game began with tension as Zambia’s Ochumba Oseke Lubanji won a penalty in the 1st minute, only to miss the spot-kick after Comoros’ Nasrine was shown a red card for the foul. Reduced to 10 players, Comoros struggled to contain the Zambian offense.

In the 6th minute, Fridah Mukoma broke the deadlock, slotting in a well-taken goal to give Zambia a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Lubanji redeemed herself by outmaneuvering the Comoros defense to double the scoreline. The Copper Queens showed no signs of slowing down, as Mukoma struck again in the 10th minute, securing a comfortable 3-0 lead for Zambia.

At the start of the second half, Zambia made their first substitution, bringing on Diana Banda for Melody Kipimbi. The change maintained their attacking momentum, and in the 61st minute, Lubanji rose high to head in a perfect cross from Lungowe Namasiku, pushing the score to 5-0.

As the game continued, Mukoma clinched her hat trick in the 75th minute, delivering yet another close-range goal to further demoralize the Comoros defense. Substitute Charity Mubanga then joined the scoring spree in the 81st minute, finding the net to round off the Copper Queens’ 7-0 triumph.

With this emphatic win, Zambia cemented their place in the semi-finals, showcasing the strength of their attack and setting a high bar for the next stage of the COSAFA Women’s Championship.
