Ghana Premier League Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered their first defeat in the 2024/25 season, falling 2-1 to a spirited Legon Cities side.

The host team took control early in the first half, setting the pace with confident possession and pressing Kotoko’s defense. In the 22nd minute, Albert Yeboah found a pocket of space inside the box and struck beautifully to give Legon Cities a well-deserved lead. His precision stunned Kotoko’s defense, putting the host team in a favorable position. Legon Cities held onto their lead, as the first half ended heading into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Kotoko, known for their resilience, came out strong in the second half. Determined to overturn the score, they applied relentless pressure on Legon Cities, which eventually paid off. In the 73rd minute, a foul inside the box resulted in a penalty awarded to Kotoko. Albert Amoah, the team’s leading scorer, stepped up confidently and slotted the penalty past the Legon Cities goalkeeper, bringing the score level to 1-1.

With both teams fully charged, the game intensified, with each side creating scoring opportunities. Legon Cities, however, were unwilling to settle for a draw on their home turf. In the final minute of the game, the home side managed to break through Kotoko’s defense and, in a dramatic twist, scored a decisive goal, sealing the game 2-1 in favor of Legon Cities.

The final whistle confirmed Kotoko’s first loss of the season, as Legon Cities emerged as the day’s victors, delivering a hard-fought and memorable performance.
