After splitting the spoils with Bayelsa United, Yemi Olanrewaju of Enyimba FC has turned his attention to his team’s upcoming league match against Remo Stars.
In an NPFL match on day 10, Enyimba held Bayelsa United to a 1-1 draw in Yenegoa on Sunday, extending their winning streak.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s chest-down counterattack gave the People’s Elephant the lead in the 29th minute of play.

He then made a quick move to release Ufere Chinedu in front of the box, who released Alade Balogun for a cutback that Ekene Awazie rifled in for his second goal of the season.
Prior to a free kick that was deflected down and beat Asibe Nathanial in goal, the home team came back to tie the score.
In his post-match reaction, Olanrewaju said that Enyimba could have won the game but for the careless giveaway that gave Bayelsa the equaliser.
However, he stated that they must manage the one point and concentrate on their upcoming matchup with Remo Stars FC in Aba on Sunday.
“Yeah, we knew they would result in a lot of long balls as in the first half.
“So what I asked them to do was to calm the game so we can play from the back, cause our strength is to play from the back while we force them at the final third.
“We gave them lots of the ball because we wanted them to load the balls, and in the second half, we did the same thing.
“I think this is a game we could have won because they didn’t create anything in the second half except some long balls while we played to get to the last third.
” I think execution at the last third wasn’t really good enough.”
With 18 points from 10 games following the stalemate in Yenegoa, Enyimba is still three points behind Remo Stars and Rivers United, who have 21 points each.
