Manchester City’s midfielder Bernardo Silva voiced his frustration following the team’s unexpected 3-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon, marking a third consecutive loss for City. The Portuguese playmaker did not hold back as he reflected on the challenges currently facing the squad.
“It’s disappointing because we’re a bit in a dark place right now,” Silva admitted post-match. “Everything looks to be going in the wrong way. Even when we are playing well, we don’t score our chances, and we concede too easily.”
City’s recent dip in form has taken fans and players by surprise, with Silva acknowledging the unusual nature of their current slump. “I don’t remember in seven-and-a-half seasons this team losing three games in a row,” he noted, adding that it feels as if the team is veering off course. Despite the rough patch, Silva expressed hope, pointing out that the team remains in a strong position, particularly in the Premier League.
Silva also highlighted the impact of injuries on City’s performances. “Our injured players need to come back because we need them,” he said. “It’s just not good enough tonight.”
Looking ahead, Silva emphasized the need for introspection and quick improvement. “We definitely need to look inside and check what we’re not doing well,” he concluded. “And we need to get better very quickly; otherwise, it will be very difficult to come back from these losses.”.
