AFCON Late Call-ups as Eight Black Stars Players Withdraw Ahead of AFCON Qualifiers

In a late reshuffle for Ghana’s squad, the Black Stars have confirmed eight withdrawals due to injuries and fitness concerns ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger. Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jonas Adjetey, Tariq Lamptey, Jerome Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Ibrahim Osman, and Joseph Paintsil are the players unable to participate, leaving significant gaps across the squad.

In response, Ghana’s coaching staff moved quickly to bring in reinforcements, handing late call-ups to several promising and experienced players. Red Star Belgrade’s Osman Bukari and Hamburger SV’s Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer are among those joining the squad, alongside other late additions looking to make an impact and fill the void left by the withdrawals.

Bukari’s speed and finishing ability offer a boost to Ghana’s attacking lineup, while Königsdörffer, known for his versatility and work rate, is expected to bring dynamism to both the wing and midfield areas.

The last-minute changes present an opportunity for the new call-ups to prove their worth in the national setup. With high stakes in these upcoming fixtures, the restructured squad is determined to rise to the challenge and make Ghana proud.
