Nigeria Former Super Eagles Players Throws Weight Behind Chelles

Embattled Super Eagles new Coach Eric Chelle has received support from former Super Eagles players.

Chelle was named substantive head coach of the three-time African champions this week, but the announcement has caused so much mixed feeling among Football loving Nigerians.

Former Super Eagles Forwards, Victor Ikpeba and Julius Aghahowa are the latest to give their backing to the Malian tactician

Ikpeba during a radio program with Brilla FM solicited the cooperation of Nigerians for the couch.

He said, “The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” the former Monaco forward told Brila FM.“

“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa and that’s the passion that comes around the national team.

“Even if we had appointed Pep Guardiola (Manchester City coach), there would be complaints.

“If there are no arguments , there won’t be success.”

“A decision has been made on a new coach by the NFF and we have to support it,” he said.

Eric Chelle is a young coach who will succeed with our support.

“We’re in a tight corner in the World Cup qualifying campaign and we have to support him to get the best out of the players, who are the main actors in this situation.

“I am optimistic that with the support of Nigerians, we will still qualify for the World Cup.”

On his part, Julius Aghahowa, said the problem of Nigeri ma football was not not coach, but the players.

Hopefully, he’ll bring in a different kind of mentality,” Aghahowa told Brila FM.

“We don’t have a talent problem. I would like to see how he impacts the team’s work rate and mentality.

“Our problem has always been the mentality of players coming from their clubs to represent Nigeria.”
