The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a significant reshuffle of the technical team for the Black Starlets, Ghana’s national U-17 men’s football team, as part of preparations for upcoming assignments in 2025 and beyond. The reshuffle aims to enhance the team’s performance and foster the development of young football talent in the country.
Stephen Frimpong Manso, an experienced tactician and current head coach of Ghana Premier League side Gold Stars, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Black Starlets. Frimpong Manso brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously played for the senior national team, the Black Stars, and carved a reputation as a skilled mentor for young players.
Joining Frimpong Manso in the revamped technical setup are Nana Kweku Agyemang and Jacob Nettey, who have been retained as assistant coaches. Both men bring continuity to the team, having worked with the Black Starlets in recent years and demonstrated their ability to nurture young talents.
The technical team has been further bolstered by the appointment of Kennedy Ofori Ansah as the goalkeepers’ trainer. Ansah’s expertise is expected to refine the skills of the team’s young goalkeepers and ensure a solid defense. Derrick Laryea, a video analyst with a keen eye for tactical breakdowns, has also been added to the team to provide detailed match analyses and insights that will inform training and game strategies.
The GFA expressed confidence in the new technical team’s ability to steer the Black Starlets to success, noting that the blend of experience and fresh perspectives would enhance the team’s chances in both regional and international tournaments.
The Black Starlets are set to begin preparations for their 2025 assignments, with high hopes of reclaiming their status as one of Africa’s leading youth teams. Fans and stakeholders alike will be watching closely as the new technical team takes charge and embarks on this exciting journey.
