Real Madrid take big decisions after humiliation against Barcelona

Following their 5-2 loss to FC Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, Real Madrid’s management has moved quickly to chart a course for the remainder of the season.

While the humiliating defeat has sparked outrage among fans and calls for drastic measures, President Florentino Pérez has opted for measured decisions. Firstly, Carlo Ancelotti will remain as head coach despite criticism and demands for his departure.

Pérez has decided to maintain stability and will only evaluate Ancelotti’s future at the end of the season, ensuring continuity amidst the growing tension.

The second and third decisions focus on squad reinforcements. Surprisingly, Madrid will not strengthen their central defense this winter despite injuries and recurring issues in the backline, choosing instead to rely on the current roster and young talent.

However, the club is reigniting efforts to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. With his contract expiring in June, Madrid is prepared to submit a new offer after an initial bid was rejected. This proactive move reflects their determination to address weaknesses while maintaining strategic restraint in other areas.
