Congo has been disqualified from the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to an eligibility dispute.
Equatorial Guinea lodged a complaint, claiming that during their qualifying matches, Congo had fielded Mankou Nguembete Japhet Eloi, an ineligible player.
Congo was found to have failed to produce a legitimate licence that would have allowed the athlete to play.

Because of this, CAF has ruled that Equatorial Guinea has won both the home and away games, giving them a 3-0 victory and a tournament berth.
A $10,000 punishment has also been imposed on the Congolese Football Association, which has sixty days to pay the fine.
