Kenya FKF Chairman Mbegera confirms two-day PET course for Nyanza referees

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Kisii County chairman Jezreel Mbegera has hit the road running following his re-election, by convening a two-day Nyanza region PET training course for referees set for Friday and Saturday.

The event, which comes barely a few days after Mbegera, who sits in the FKF national affairs legal committee, was appointed the chairman of the referees committee in Nyanza region, will be held at Cardinal Otunga High School grounds in Mosocho.

“Referees and match commissioners from all the six Counties of Nyanza region will be attending,” said Mbegera. “This is an exercise we want to use to prepare the referees psychically, gauge their fitness and endurance as they get ready to officiate in our regional league and the County league.”

According to Mbegera, the Nyanza Regional League will kick off on Sunday, January 26.

“Kisii County will unveil its FKF County working committees on Sunday, January 26. County league clubs meeting will be held on the same day,” said Mbegera adding: “We are ready to kick off the County league after the start of the regional league.”

Mbegera further confirmed other activities lined-up in Kisii County include CAF D Coaching course and Basic Referees training all slated for April. The FKF Chairman called on stakeholders to go slow on politics and unhealthy propaganda and grow the game instead.

“We want everybody on board, when I was re-elected, my vision was to drive the sport in the Country forward and for me, time for politics is behind us, it is time to work towards building the game, and I urge everyone to come and join hands,” said Mbegera.

Mbegera further offered that he will deliver leadership that will help arbitrate internal wrangles within clubs for the success of the game.
