Transfer window Kayode Completes Brentford Loan Move From Fiorentina

Nigerian defender Michael Kayode, who was born in Italy, has joined Brentford on loan from Fiorentina.

The news was revealed on Brentford’s website on Friday.

“Defender Michael Kayode has joined Brentford on loan from Italian side Fiorentina, subject to international clearance.

“The deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

“The right-back enjoyed a breakout season last term, playing 26 games in Serie A, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

“Kayode was also a regular fixture in La Viola’s run to the UEFA Europa Conference League final, which they lost to Olympiacos, making six appearances in the European competition.

“This term, the 20-year-old has played 12 times in all competitions.”

Before 2018, Kayode spent seven years at Juventus, where he began his youth career.

After leaving Juventus, he played for Gozzano, a Serie D team.

In the 2020–21 season, the 16-year-old defender helped the team advance to Serie C by scoring two goals and dishing out two assists in 34 games.

Following that successful season, he joined Fiorentina and was initially included in their youth squad.

In a 4-1 victory over Genoa on the road in 2023, he made his Serie A debut for the team.

He played 49 games for Fiorentina and established himself as a mainstay in the first team by the conclusion of the season.
