Kenya Sinisa Mihic starts Gor Mahia reign with Mathare United win

Sinisa Mihic began his Gor Mahia tenure with a 2-1 win over Mathare United at Dandora Stadium on Saturday.

Mathare United made things difficult for Gor Mahia from start as the Slum Boys took the lead through Elli Asieche the 15th minute, making Mihic more frustrated on the touchline. Alphonce Omija scored the equalizer in the 20th minutes as K’Ogalo turned tables and gained full control of the game.

In the second half, Gor Mahia secured victory after Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrison converted a 71st-minute penalty. Despite the pressure from Mathare United late on, the defending champions held on for their back-to-back win to go 3rd in the FKF Premier League table standings with 34 points from 19 outings.

If Gor Mahia win their game in hand, they will remain just one point of table-topping Kenya Police FC and Tusker FC who have 38 points apiece.
