African players abroad Dejan Lovren Speaks on Salah’s Contract Uncertainty

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has weighed in on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation, hinting at underlying tensions between the Egyptian star and the club.

Speaking candidly, Lovren revealed that he had recently spoken with Salah about his future, expressing both his personal wish for him to stay and concerns over how the club values him.

“I have to be careful what I say now because I know a lot of things,” Lovren admitted. “Everyone wants him to stay, and I personally want that too. I called him the other day and said, ‘Mo, you have to think about yourself. Look at everything I’ve done for this club and what I’m still capable of doing.’”

Lovren, who was a close friend and longtime teammate of Salah at Liverpool, suggested that the club may not be showing the level of respect Salah expects.

“I came to the conclusion that the club doesn’t respect him enough, or not as much as he thinks he deserves, but that’s another side of the conversation. It’s all about what’s going on behind the scenes. Salah believes that there are things missing from the club’s side, and I hope it will be resolved soon.”

The uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future has fueled speculation about a potential move, particularly with interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and beyond. Lovren’s final remark suggested that Liverpool fans may have reason to worry.

“But the current reality is that he is closer to leaving than staying.”

With Salah’s contract situation still unresolved, Lovren’s comments add further intrigue to what could be a defining moment for both the player and the club.
