15 minutes from the end, Akwa United’s Uche Sabastine scored the game-winning goal.

The victory was Finidi George’s team’s first in six league games.

Holders Rangers and Bayelsa United were held to a 0-0 draw in Yenagoa. The Abia Warriors crushed the Sunshine Stars 3-0 in Umuahia. Samuel Ogunjinmi, Isaac Desouza, and Chigozie Iwundu were all on target for Imama Amapakabo’s side.
