Ghana’s Black Queens Swedish coach, kim Lars Bjorkegrwn known for his tactical acumen and commitment to player development, has outlined his vision for the team, emphasizing hard work, talent identification, and long-term success.
Björkegren understands that the foundation of any successful team is built on its players. He has made it his priority to visit all the players, watch their games, and provide guidance to help them improve. “The most important aspect of my job is to visit all the players, watch games, and help them improve,” he stated. His approach ensures that both local and foreign-based players receive the necessary attention to develop their skills and contribute effectively to the national team.
Football is unpredictable—sometimes teams win, and sometimes they lose. However, for Björkegren and his staff, the key is maintaining consistency in effort. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but for me, the staff, and the players, working hard every day is key to ensuring success sooner or later,” he emphasized. This mentality instills resilience in the team, preparing them for both triumphs and setbacks as they work towards greater achievements.
Ghana has always been a hub of footballing talent, and Björkegren is confident that the country has what it takes to shine on the global stage. “I see so much talent in this country, and I am really sure that in the short term, we have the potential to succeed,” he said. His goal is to nurture this talent, providing the necessary training, exposure, and tactical discipline to elevate the Black Queens to new heights.
While immediate success is possible, Björkegren is also focused on the long-term sustainability of Ghanaian women’s football. “In the long term, I can guarantee we will be successful,” he assured. This statement reflects his belief in the structures he is putting in place, ensuring that the Black Queens remain competitive not just for the present but for future generations.
