African players abroad Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro Open to Ghana Call-Up but Focused on His Development for Now

Young AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro has expressed his admiration for Ghana but admits that representing the Black Stars is not a priority at the moment.

The highly-rated shot-stopper, who has already featured for the Netherlands at youth level, remains eligible to play for Ghana through his father. Despite this, Owusu-Oduro is currently focused on his club career and development.

“Ghana is a great football nation, and I would love to represent them one day. But for now, my focus is on improving as a player and making the right decisions for my career,” he stated.

The 20-year-old has been making waves at AZ Alkmaar, with many tipping him as a future top-tier goalkeeper. His performances at youth level for the Netherlands have also kept the Dutch national team interested.

With Ghana constantly looking to strengthen its squad with diaspora talents, Owusu-Oduro’s situation will be one to watch in the coming years.
