Liberia revived their race for a ticket in the 2026 FIFA World as they defeated Sao Tome and Principe 2-1 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.

The host went in front just five minutes of play through Nichola Andrews who controlled the ball and hit it hard, high, to open the scoring for Liberia.

Despite getting an early goal, Liberia kept on piling pressure on Sao Tome keeping them deep into their own half while dictating the pace of the game.

Twenty five minutes later, Liberia throw-in worked for them as Laomie threw the ball into the box, Farkarlun headed it towards the middle, with a deflection off the defense, for the ball to fall into the back of the net, increasing the score in the first half!.

They almost made it 3-0 in the 35th minute when Tweh found himself at the edge of the area after he received a pass from Otu in the pivot and hit it hard, sending the ball over the goal.

With the first half almost approaching, Sao Tome pulled one back after Ramos received a ball and found Afonso, who passed it to Dola to invade the area and shoot hard, high, with no chance for the goalkeeper to defend.

Both teams returned from the break looking more rejuvenated as the game became moee balanced as the second half failed to produce a goal.
