The mystery surrounding Diego Maradona’s death continues to deepen, and the latest revelations have ignited a new wave of controversy.
On Monday, accusations emerged that one of the Argentine football legend’s psychologists, Agustina Cosachov, may have had a sexual relationship with her patient prior to his death—an allegation that, if true, could carry serious ethical and legal consequences.
The claims stem from WhatsApp messages exchanged between Cosachov and fellow psychologist Carlos Diaz, both of whom were part of Maradona’s medical team.
In one message that caught the attention of investigators, Diaz wrote: “You slept with the fat one, you bitch.” To which Cosachov replied: “Hahaha. Well, therapy is therapy, everyone has their own technique.” Though the tone suggests sarcasm, the messages have been included in the broader investigation into alleged medical negligence leading up to Maradona’s death in November 2020.
In response to the media storm, Cosachov took to Instagram to strongly deny the allegations, calling them “completely false and deeply unfair.” She insisted that she never had any inappropriate relationship with Maradona—or any of her patients—and claimed the messages were private and sarcastic exchanges taken out of context. Despite her defense, the incident adds another layer of drama to an already murky legal battle surrounding the care Maradona received in his final days.
