Ghana Desmond Ofei Sets Clear Targets for Ghana at U-20 AFCON

Ghana U-20 head coach Desmond Ofei has outlined the team’s objectives ahead of the upcoming Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON), emphasizing a step-by-step approach as they aim to secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Coach Ofei stressed the importance of staying focused on the immediate task, which is advancing beyond the group stage.

“Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage,” he said. “From there, we take it one step at a time. Of course, the long-term aim is to win the tournament and qualify for the U-20 World Cup, but we’ll do that by staying consistent and focused on the process.”

Ghana, a former U-20 World Cup winner, will be hoping to reclaim its dominance at youth level and build a strong foundation for future national team success. Under Ofei’s leadership, the team has shown promise in recent friendlies and qualifiers, with a blend of technical quality and discipline.

“We believe in our squad,” Ofei added. “The talent is there, but it’s about execution, teamwork, and mentality. We are preparing the boys not just to compete, but to represent Ghana with pride and ambition.”

Ghanaian fans will be watching closely, hopeful that the Black Satellites can rise to the occasion and once again become a force on the continental and global stage.
