Xavi Simons opens door to move as Leipzig slashes valuation

After permanently signing Xavi Simons for €80 million last January, RB Leipzig is already reconsidering its stance on the Dutch talent.

The former PSG and La Masia product had an impressive 2023/24 campaign with 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances, but a recent dip in form has seen both his value and importance to the squad questioned. Leipzig’s disappointing domestic season, currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga, has only fueled speculation of a potential departure.

According to Sky Sport Germany, Leipzig has now lowered Simons’ asking price from the previously expected €100 million to €80 million – and they may even accept less.

The player himself has hinted at a possible move this summer, stating he still has “a lot of dreams” to achieve. Manchester United and Liverpool have shown interest, while Manchester City is eyeing him as a possible replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. With Leipzig now open to negotiation, Simons could become one of the most attractive opportunities in the upcoming transfer window.
