Police vs URA – Kavumba 4pm
NEC vs Mbale Heroes – Lugogo 7pm

NEC FC will be desperate to bounce from a disappointing 3-1 loss to title rivals Vipers when they host bottom of the table Mbale Heroes under the lights at Lugogo on Friday.

Hussein Mbalangu’s men, the closest challengers to Vipers are now eight points adrift of the Venoms who beat Maroons 1-0 on Friday and must win to keep them within touching distance.

They will be favourites against relegation candidates Mbale Heroes who have picked just one point in the last ten league matches and are on 10 points with just six matches left. At Kavumba, Police under Matia Lule will hope to stop URA’s winning run when the two face off.

The tax men are on a four-match winning streak and sit 4th on the table with 42 points thus victory will lift them into 3rd place for at least 24 hours pending results from BUL’s visit to Wakiso Giants on Saturday.

Police are unbeaten since appointing Lule and after getting eliminated from the Uganda Cup, their focus now is survival in the league where they lie 12th with 27 points.

URA have won four of the past five league meetings including the reverse fixture’s 1-0 win at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo. The other match on Friday will see Lugazi hosting Soltilo Bright Stars in a relatively relegation six pointer which could ensure survival for the hosts if they win.

Eleventh with 28 points, a win will see them open an eleven-point gap between them and the side occupying the last relegation spot on the table. Soltilo Bright Stars are second from bottom and need three points to improve their survival chances which look minimal.
