Ghana Ahmed Toure Challenges Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to Rise Higher

Former Asante Kotoko star, Ahmed Toure, has voiced his concerns about the current state of Ghana’s two biggest football clubs, urging them to aim higher and reclaim their rightful place on the African stage.

In a passionate message to both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, Toure called for a return to the days when the two giants dominated not just in Ghana, but across the continent.
“I expect big clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to always be at their best,” Toure said. “These are historic teams that should be making their mark at the top level in African football.”

Reflecting on the rich legacy of the two clubs, he stressed that the foundations for success already exist.
“The potential is there. The history is there,” he continued. “What we need now is consistency, planning, and belief.”

Toure’s remarks come at a time when many Ghanaian fans have grown increasingly frustrated by the clubs’ struggles in major continental competitions like the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. Once feared opponents on the African scene, Kotoko and Hearts have struggled in recent years to make a sustained impact.

For Toure, it’s not just about pride — it’s about fulfilling a responsibility to the fans and the game itself.
