CBF denies consulting Neymar’s entourage over coach selection

Amid the ongoing saga to find a new head coach for the Brazilian national team, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has publicly denied rumors that it consulted Neymar’s father regarding the potential hiring of Jorge Jesus.

Recent reports from the Brazilian press had claimed that Neymar’s entourage opposed the appointment of the 70-year-old Portuguese coach, citing a strained relationship during their time together at Al-Hilal.

Jorge Jesus, who recently left his post in Saudi Arabia before the season’s conclusion, has been mentioned as a top candidate alongside Carlo Ancelotti, who is still expected by many to take charge of the Seleção. The CBF’s denial aims to refute suggestions that player influence—particularly from Neymar’s camp—is shaping the coaching decision, a claim that has fueled criticism of the federation’s handling of the succession process.
