Ghanaian goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who recently cemented his place as the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper, has been gifted a brand-new car by business mogul Alhaji Seidu Adongo, CEO of Class Media Group owners of a group of local stations in Ghana.
The surprise gesture came on the heels of Benjamin Asare’s outstanding performance during his debut appearance in the World Cup qualifiers, where he kept a clean sheet and made a string of impressive saves that helped Ghana secure two vital victories. His poise, confidence, and reflexes under pressure earned him instant national acclaim and the endorsement of the technical team as Ghana’s new number one between the posts.
However, what truly captured the hearts of many Ghanaians, including Alhaji Seidu Adongo, was a viral video that surfaced days after the match, showing the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper commuting in a public minibus (locally called Tro-Tro), quietly making his way through Accra.
“When I saw a video of Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare humbly commuting in a trotro, I was deeply moved by his resilience and commitment to Ghana,” Alhaji Adongo said. “Despite his rising status, he remained grounded and focused. That level of humility and dedication deserves to be recognised.”
In a small but symbolic ceremony in Accra, the business tycoon handed over the keys to a sleek new vehicle to the goalkeeper, praising him not just for his talent on the field, but for his humility off it.
“I hope this gesture not only motivates Benjamin but also encourages the youth and upcoming talents in sports to give their all, knowing their hard work will be recognised,” Alhaji Adongo added.
Benjamin Asare, visibly emotional, expressed his gratitude: “I’m overwhelmed by this kindness. I never expected it. My focus has always been to give my best for Hearts of Oak and Ghana. This gift means a lot to me and my family.”
Fans across the country have hailed both the player and the generous gesture, calling it a reminder of the values of hard work, humility, and patriotism.
