Two Zambian CAF women instructors, Enala Phiri and Beauty Mwamba, are currently in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, where they are taking part in the CAF Women Instructors Development Programme.
The programme, which began on 5 May and runs until 9 May 2025, has brought together 25 instructors from 16 African countries as part of CAF’s wider effort to build capacity in women’s football by equipping coach educators with advanced training and development tools.
Phiri and Mwamba are representing Zambia in a week-long in-person workshop that focuses on strengthening essential competencies such as leadership, communication, coaching pedagogy and practical instruction.
Before traveling to Ethiopia, all participants completed four online training modules between March and April 2025. The modules laid the foundation for the current workshop and covered key areas in technical and soft skills training.
CAF launched the Women Instructors Development Programme as a long-term investment in the growth of women’s football on the continent. The initiative is aimed at improving the quality of coaching education by enhancing the knowledge and skills of female instructors, who will in turn mentor upcoming coaches within their respective Member Associations.
