AFCON-20 Desmond Ofei Hails Black Satellites’ Grit After Vital Win Over Central African Republic

Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei couldn’t hide his pride after watching his side grind out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Central African Republic in the ongoing U-20 tournament. The result, narrow but significant, catapulted Ghana’s youth team to the top of Group C and put them through to the next stage of the competition.

“This was more than just a win,” Ofei said after the match, his face beaming with satisfaction. “The boys played football today—real football. They showed character, discipline, and heart. I’m really proud of them.”

The match, played under intense heat and high stakes, saw the Black Satellites dominate possession for large spells, but it was a moment of brilliance in the second half that made the difference. A well-timed pass sliced through the CAR defense and found winger Abdul Razak, whose composed finish sealed the three points.

While the scoreline was slender, the performance spoke volumes about the team’s growth under Ofei’s leadership. Ghana defended with purpose, pressed with intensity, and looked dangerous going forward.

“We’ve been working hard in training, and today, the boys executed the plan almost perfectly,” Ofei added. “It wasn’t just about skill—it was about teamwork, resilience, and belief.”

“We’ll enjoy this for a moment, then get back to work. The job isn’t finished yet.”
