For the first time in history, six English clubs will participate in the UEFA Champions League next season. Thanks to England’s high UEFA coefficient and the performance of its teams in European competitions, the Premier League was already awarded five automatic spots for the next edition.
Now, with either Manchester United or Tottenham set to win the Europa League final on May 21 in Bilbao, a sixth spot is guaranteed. The winner of the Europa League qualifies directly for the Champions League, regardless of league standing.
Liverpool, already crowned champions, will be joined by four of the following: Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest, with the sixth to come from the Europa League winner.
