COSAFA Katuka hosts Copper Princesses in trophy celebration dinner

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia, Stephen Katuka, hosted the triumphant Copper Princesses at his residence in Windhoek on Saturday evening following their successful title defense at the 2025 COSAFA U17 Girls’ Championship.

The dinner was a moment of celebration and national pride as Carol Kanyemba’s side presented their winners’ trophy and individual accolades to Ambassador Katuka. The Copper Princesses were crowned champions after a 3-0 victory over Malawi in the final held at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

Captain Ruth Mukoma, Natasha Kasema and Gift Mazimba Chisha were the scorers in a strong display.
Individually, goalkeeper Bukata Kakumbi won the Golden Glove award after conceding just one goal throughout the tournament while captain Ruth Mukoma was named Player of the Tournament, both replicating the feat of 2024 winners Loveness Chingwele and Mercy Chipasula respectively.

The Copper Princesses are now expected to shift focus to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be hosted in Morocco from 17 October – 8 November. Zambia is one of four African nations that qualified alongside Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Nigeria. Morocco will compete as hosts.
