Nigeria Super Falcons Top Africa, Remains 36th Globally In Latest FIFA Ranking

Nigeria’s Super Falcons were unmoving, holding 36th place in the most recent FIFA women’s world ranking, which was posted on the Federation of International Football Association’s (FIFA) website on Thursday.

The Super Falcons are still the top team in Africa, but there has been a lot of movement further down the rankings, and the Americans are under pressure from Spain (2nd) and Germany (3rd).

The star-studded team led by Emma Hayes can see the European duo growing more and more in their rearview mirror after they lost 2-1 at home to Brazil (4th, up 4) in April.

Both teams have been undefeated since the last update. Just ahead of Sweden in sixth place, England (down 1) finishes in the top five.

The consequences of South American opposition defeats have also been felt by Canada and Japan, which are below them.

On August 7, 2025, the next FIFA women’s world ranking will be released.

Last Tuesday, in an international friendly match in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Super Falcons defeated Cameroon 2-0.

Rasheedat Ajibade’s brace in the first half gave coach Justin Madugu’s team the victory.

On Monday, June 23, they will play another international friendly match against Portugal.

The Falcons are preparing for this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with these friendly matches.

At this year’s WAFCON, the Falcons are in the same group with Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana.
