FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP FIFACWC: Juventus Thrash Al Ain In Group G Opener

Juventus crushed Al Ain 5-0 in their Club World Cup opening in Washington on Wednesday, with braces from Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao.

Following Manchester City’s victory over Wydad AC earlier in the day, the Italian powerhouses, who sent a team to see US President Donald Trump at the White House, easily won Group G.

Despite their silence, Juventus’ players were much more at ease conversing on the field as they destroyed Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates at Audi Field.

After eleven minutes, Alberto Costa’s cross was headed high by Kolo Muani, who had extended his loan from Paris Saint-Germain to compete in the tournament in the United States.

Ten minutes later, Conceicao, on loan from Porto, raced past one defender in the area and then fired home with a deflection to give Igor Tudor’s Juventus a double lead.

After 31 minutes, Kenan Yildiz, a Turkish forward, scored the third goal by finding a gap on the box’s edge and hammering it in at the near post.

To make matters worse for Al Ain, French attacker Kolo Muani scored his second goal with a superb finish in first-half stoppage time.

After Kouame Autonne’s goal for the UAE team was disallowed for offside, Conceicao scored again after another small deflection.

Douglas Luiz shot well off-target late in the game, and Kolo Muani could have scored his hat-trick when he was passed through, but keeper Rui Patricio stopped him superbly.

Juventus, who placed fourth in Serie A, are looking to win in the US this summer to make up for a season without a title.
