Africa Soccer Tight contest as ZPL league playoffs enters critical stage

Day Two of the 2025 National League Playoffs produced tense encounters and shifting group dynamics as teams continued their quest to secure a spot in next season’s ZPL National League.

At Munis Grounds, Chipata City Council FC recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Muchinga Blue Eagles in Group B, thanks to a second half strike from Nsama Mukalula in the 56th minute. The win puts Chipata in contention heading into Thursday’s crucial clash with Mathkat United.

Earlier in the day, Solwezi Academy and Mathkat United played out a goalless draw in a closely contested match that saw few clear-cut chances but plenty of tactical discipline. Crown FC were on bye and will return to action on Thursday when they face Solwezi Academy. Muchinga Blue Eagles will rest.

At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Makeni All Stars continued their impressive run with an assured 3-0 win over Nangweshi Pirates. Penalties from either half by Penius Tonga and Kenani Phiri and one from Ziyalula Lywali sealed the Lusaka side’s second successive victory and put them in pole position in Group B.

In the late fixture, Teta FC bounced back from their opening day defeat with a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Bart’s FC. Despite going behind to a 25th minute strike from Semiwe Mwila, Teta responded swiftly with goals from Benson Mwila and Mathews Chanda in the 55th and 57th minutes respectively to claim all three points.

Roan United, who were on bye, return to action in a top-of-the-table clash against Makeni All Stars, while Nangweshi Pirates will face Bart’s FC in a bid to stay in contention.
