Pogba transfer twist: Al Ittihad challenge Monaco for his signature

The return of Paul Pogba to football is shaping up to be one of the transfer window’s biggest stories. While AS Monaco remains in pole position to land the 32-year-old Frenchman, a new suitor—Saudi side Al Ittihad—has entered the race.

Pogba, out of action since September 2023 due to suspension, has fueled speculation with recent training clips, notably wearing a Boca Juniors shirt, which set social media ablaze.

Monaco have been in talks with the 2018 world champion for weeks, with both parties keen on a move. Pogba sees Ligue 1 as a fresh challenge and a platform to revive his career ahead of the 2026 World Cup. However, negotiations have slowed over contractual details and image rights.

Meanwhile, Al Ittihad, home to Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, is showing serious interest. Despite ongoing internal issues delaying a formal offer, the Saudi club could soon present a major obstacle to Monaco’s plans.
