Premier League Premier League Fine Man City $2.56m For Delayed Kickoffs And Restarts

The Premier League said on Thursday that Manchester City had been fined almost a million pounds for nine instances over the previous season of breaking the regulations regarding delayed kickoffs and restarts.

The sanction follows City’s payment of 2 million pounds ($2.56 million) to the league for violating the same game-delay regulations one year prior.

The club acknowledged the rule violations, expressed regret, and stated that they had reminded its employees and players of their obligations to follow the rules.

“Rules relating to kick-offs and re-starts help ensure the organisation of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs,” the league said in a statement.

“It also ensures the broadcast of every Premier League match is kept to schedule.”

1.08 million pounds in fines were levied against City for their away games against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Ipswich Town, as well as their home games against Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, West Ham United, and Newcastle United.

Against West Ham and Ipswich, the greatest game delays were two minutes and twenty-two seconds each for restarts.

The club is awaiting the outcome of 115 unrelated accusations involving purported violations of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

The charges span the years 2009 through the 2022–2023 season.

Manchester Ciity has always denied any misconduct.
