Kenya Twiga Stars maintain lead in CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship

Tanzania’s Twiga Stars have stopped 2022 champions Uganda Crested Cranes 2-0 to maintain their lead on the table standing in the on-going CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship.

Opa Clement Tukumbuke opened the scoring for the home side after 22 minutes after a defensive lapse by the Crested Cranes. Captained by Zainah Namuleme, the Ugandan team continued to close gaps and created a few scoring opportunities through Sylivia Kabene.

After recess Twiga Stars increased their intensity, but the Crested Cranes defended well. Diana Msewa made it 2-0 for Tanzania after another lapse in defending by the Ugandan team. In an earlier match Kenya also maintained their 100% winning record with a 4-0 triumph against South Sudan in a match played at the Azam Complex.

Faith Mboya gave Harambee Starlets the lead after only 3 minutes. The South Sudan team defended in numbers and closed out Kenya’s attack till the interval. In the second half Violet Nanjala Wanyonyi, Martha Amunyolet Emedot and Elizabeth Ochaka got their names on the score sheet to ensure Kenya collected another big win.
