Nigeria Iconic Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba To Host NNL Super 8

The Nigeria National League (NNL) Board has declared that the highly awaited NNL Super 8 competition will take place at the storied Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, from July 5–12, 2025.

Eight elite teams have emerged to battle for promotion to the prestigious Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a fiercely fought and successful regular season.

Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, Kun Khalifa FC, Wikki Tourists, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma FC, and Barau FC are among the eligible teams.

Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, has graciously approved the tournament’s hosting in Asaba as a sign of his strong support for Nigerian football.

The NNL thanked the governor, pointing out that this action enhances Delta State’s standing as a centre for Nigerian sports development.

“We are happy to announce that the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Hon. Oborevwori, has given approval for the hosting of the NNL Super 8 in Asaba.

We’re grateful for this kind gesture, which will further cement the position of Delta State as a leading sporting state in the country,” the NNL stated.

“By this gesture, we’re ready to have a successful conclusion to the 2024/2025 season and produce the best teams to compete in the NPFL next season.”

NNL Chairman Mr. George Aluo promised football fans nationwide an entertaining and expertly run Super 8 in a statement prior to the competition.

“There will be no dull moment throughout the duration of the Super 8,” Aluo affirmed.

“All eight teams have shown quality and resilience to get to this stage, and any of them is capable of securing promotion.”

He added that in order to achieve a successful competition, the NNL will work with the Delta State Government to make sure all the arrangements are in place.

The league champion and the four teams promoted to Nigeria’s top division for the 2025–2026 season will be decided by the NNL Super 8.
