This year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco is set to make history with an all-female team of commentators covering the tournament on-site for the very first time.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that six renowned women, including four former football stars and two seasoned journalists, will lend their voices and insights to the competition. The team features former players Rachael Ayegba, Hafia Guedri, Amanda Dlamini, and Christine Manie, whose extensive experience on the pitch promises to bring authentic and expert analysis to fans worldwide.

Completing the historic panel are Gaëlle Moudio from Cameroon and Laetitia Dembo from the Democratic Republic of Congo, both respected journalists known for their vibrant reporting and deep knowledge of African football.

CAF hailed the move as a significant step in promoting gender equality and showcasing female talent across all facets of the game. “It’s a milestone moment for women’s football on the continent,” a CAF official said. “These women bring not only expertise but also inspiration to countless young girls dreaming of careers in sports media.”

Fans can expect dynamic coverage, insightful analysis, and engaging storytelling throughout the tournament, as this trailblazing team takes center stage.

WAFCON 2024 promises to be a spectacle both on and off the pitch—and this all-female commentary team ensures the voices telling the story are as empowering as the action itself.
