Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah has expressed his delight after qualifying for the men’s 200m final at the Commonwealth Games, admitting that he knew he needed a strong performance to secure his place.

Amoah produced a determined run in the semi-final to book his spot in the medal race, with the experienced sprinter aware that only a fast time would be enough to progress.

Speaking after the race, the Ghanaian speedster said he was pleased with his performance and focused on executing his plan under pressure.

“I feel good. I knew I had to run fast to qualify,” Amoah said, highlighting the intensity of the competition and the importance of delivering when it mattered most.

The qualification adds another major milestone to Amoah’s impressive athletics career as he continues to represent Ghana on the international stage.

With the men’s 200m final ahead, Amoah will now turn his attention to competing for a place on the podium as he aims to make Ghana proud at the Commonwealth Games.
