2026 FIFA WORLD CUP: Australia and Egypt confirmed lineups for High-Stakes Round of 32 Clash

Australia and Egypt have confirmed their starting lineups for their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 encounter, with both nations chasing a place in the Round of 16 in what promises to be a fiercely contested knockout fixture.

Australia head into the contest with a defensive 3-6-1 formation, prioritising midfield control while relying on Patrick Beach between the posts. Harry Souttar captains the side from the heart of a back three alongside Alessandro Circati and Lewis Herrington.

Jordan Bos and Aziz Behich are deployed as wing-backs, while Aiden O’Neill, Cristian Volpato and Connor Metcalfe provide support in midfield. Jackson Irvine is expected to drive the team forward from a more advanced role behind teenage forward Nestory Irankunda, who leads the attack.

Egypt, meanwhile, line up in a more attacking 4-2-3-1 system with Oufa Shobeir in goal. The defensive quartet consists of Karim Hafez, Yasser Ibrahim, Rami Rabia and Mohamed Hany.

Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Ateya anchor the midfield, allowing an attacking trio of Mostafa Ziko, captain Mohamed Salah and Emam Ashour to operate behind lone striker Omar Marmoush, who will spearhead Egypt’s bid for victory.

With a coveted Round of 16 berth on the line, both teams have named strong starting elevens as they prepare for a winner-takes-all showdown. Australia’s disciplined defensive shape will be tested by Egypt’s star-studded attack, led by Salah and Marmoush, setting the stage for an intriguing knockout battle.
