2026 FIFA WORLD CUP: Belgium and Egypt confirmed Starting XIs Ahead of Clash

Belgium and Egypt have named their starting lineups for their highly anticipated FIFA World Cup encounter, with both nations fielding strong sides as they look to secure a crucial result.

Belgium are set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and will once again rely on the creativity and leadership of captain Kevin De Bruyne. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal behind a back four consisting of Thomas Meunier, Nathan Ngoy, Brandon Mechele and Timothy Castagne.

In midfield, Amadou Onana partners Youri Tielemans in a double pivot designed to provide balance between defense and attack. Ahead of them, De Bruyne operates in his preferred playmaking role, supported by the pace and trickery of JΓ©rΓ©my Doku on the left and Leandro Trossard on the right. Charles De Ketelaere leads the attack as Belgium’s lone striker.

Egypt, meanwhile, have also opted for a 4-2-3-1 system, with Omar Marmoush spearheading the attack. The Pharaohs will be hoping their star man Mohamed Salah can inspire them to a memorable performance from the right flank.

Goalkeeper Oufa Shobeir starts between the posts, protected by a defense made up of Ahmed Fotouh, Hamdi Fathi, Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany. Mohamed Ateya and Mohanad Lasheen form the midfield shield, while Emam Ashour occupies the central attacking midfield role. Salah and Mostafa Ziko provide width and attacking support alongside Marmoush.

The lineups suggest an intriguing tactical battle, with Belgium boasting experience and technical quality through De Bruyne, Tielemans and Courtois, while Egypt will look to utilize the pace and attacking threat of Salah and Marmoush on the counterattack.

With both teams packed with talent and aiming to strengthen their position in the tournament, fans can expect an entertaining contest when the two sides take to the field.
