What a start in Houston! Germany took the lead through a brilliant curling effort from Felix Nmecha in the 6th minute, but Curacao responded in style.
Livano Comenencia capitalized on German mistakes to tie the score at 1-1 after 20 minutes and made history by scoring Curacao’s first-ever World Cup goal.
Germany finally regained the lead just before halftime: on a perfectly taken corner kick by Nathaniel Brown, Nico Schlotterbeck headed the ball in to make it 2-1, and just before that, Kai Havertz added to the lead with a penalty kick 3-1.
