2026 FIFA World Cup: Mbappé crowned fastest player

Kylian Mbappé delivered another impressive performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite France missing out on the trophy. The French captain finished as the tournament’s top scorer and matched Lionel Messi’s six-goal record. He also claimed the fastest-player award after recording a top speed of 37.61 km/h during the competition.

Mbappé led the speed rankings ahead of Sweden’s Anthony Elanga, who reached 37.16 km/h, and Netherlands defender Micky Van de Ven, who recorded 36.77 km/h. France also placed two more players in the top 10, with Bradley Barcola ranking seventh at 36.32 km/h and Théo Hernandez taking ninth place at 36.17 km/h during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Although Mbappé did not lift his second World Cup trophy, he strengthened his place among football’s greatest performers. The Bondy-born forward continues to break records, combining his goalscoring ability with his exceptional pace, which made him the fastest player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
