Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses will not have to play in the first round of the qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Guinea’s withdrawal has allowed Valentine Nguéle’s squad to advance directly to the third round.
The Cameroonian team had initially been scheduled to face Guinea in a two-legged tie between October 5 and 13, 2026. Guinea’s decision to withdraw cancelled both matches, as well as Cameroon’s planned training camp and squad gathering for the October international window.
Following their continental triumph, the Indomitable Lionesses will now get a few extra weeks to prepare for their next competitive challenge. They will discover their next opponent during the FIFA window scheduled for December 2026, when their Olympic qualification campaign resumes.
